近年中國電訊業發展迅速，近日中國移動公布了近 2 個月的營運數據，內地用戶流失了約 725.4 萬。雖然跌幅只佔中移動 9.42 億用戶人數不到 1 %，但數字大幅下降仍顯得不尋常。

自從 1997 年來，中國移動每個月都會定期公布用戶規模相關數據。2020年1月份，中國移動用戶數為 9.49415 億，相比上個月減少 86.2 萬，出現了 23 年來的第一次倒退。至 2 月份，中國移動用戶數為 9.42161 億，相比 1 月份大幅減少了 725.4 萬，兩個月累計淨減 811.6 萬，用戶流失情況十分嚴重。

翻查過去數據，中國移動用戶在大部份時候都是增長，最高的記錄是 2018 年 6 月的 416 萬，直至近兩個月才突然大幅下降。雖然有不少人聯想到新冠肺炎疫情，但有分析指原因跟去年年開始實施的「攜號轉網」有關，也就是不改號碼也可自由轉台。
